The Desmond Hotel Announces New Hires in Front Office & Sales
Sarah Melsert hired as Front Office Manager and Corin Reilly hired as new Sales Manager at The Desmond Hotel Albany
ALBANY, NY: November 16, 2017 – Tyler Desmond, General Manager of The Desmond Hotel, has welcomed two new managers to the Front Office and Sales departments.
Sarah Melsert started as Front Office Manager on October 30, and brings with her several years of front office management experience from the Saratoga Hilton and most recently the Embassy Suites Saratoga. Sarah holds a degree in Business Management & Tourism from Khon Kaen University in Thailand, and will be focusing on guest satisfaction and employee development at the front desk.
The Desmond team also welcomed Corin Reilly as Sales Manager on November 13, where she will handle the SMERF (Social, Military, Education, Religious, Fraternal) market. Corin brings with her 12 years of hospitality experience from the Radisson Hotel (formerly the Wolf Road Holiday Inn), where she worked in food and beverage before being promoted to SMERF Sales Manager for 8 years, and most recently was the Rooms Division Director for the past 3 years. She is a graduate of SUNY Albany with a degree in Psychology/Business Administration, and currently lives in Niskayuna with her family.
The Desmond Hotel Announces Transfer of Michael Schwartz, and new Banquet Manager Derbby Duvivier
Michael Schwartz transfers to Sales department, and Derbby Duvivier returns as Banquet Manager at The Desmond Hotel Albany
ALBANY, NY: January 15, 2018 – Tyler Desmond, General Manager of The Desmond Hotel, has formally announced the transfer of Michael Schwartz from Banquet Manager to Catering Services Manager. The transition occurred on December 1, and in his new role Michael is responsible for detailing hotel meetings and conferences. Michael’s career at The Desmond started in 2014 as a Simpson’s server. He was then promoted to F&B Supervisor a few months later, and then to Banquet Manager in March 2016 before transferring to the sales department.
The position that Michael’s transfer left open has been filled by Derbby Duvivier, who was welcomed back to the hotel on December 26 as a Banquet Manager. Derbby brings with him over 15 years of hotel experience, including a previous 11 years with The Desmond in restaurants and banquets. Before returning, he worked as a Banquet Manager at the Hilton Albany. “We are very excited to have Derbby return to The Desmond team, his knowledge of the hotel and years of experience will be invaluable to the Banquets department,” said Director of Banquets Phil Genovese.
